Reiki Principles

We all have the power of healing with our hands.  When you have a toothache and put your hand up to your jaw, you are naturally using this gift.  When you get Reiki attunements, you are able to channel divine chi, instead of depleting your own, when you lay on hands.

I first encountered Reiki, when a doctor referred me to get a healing session with a Reiki practitioner, after I had a miscarriage (in 2006).  But that’s just in this life.  I’ve since read, and believe, that if you are drawn to get Reiki attunements, which I later did (beginning in 2009), you already planned to do so before this life.

What I also discovered, as I began to pursue my further attunements, and practice Reiki, is that it often helps you develop one or more clair-senses or gifts.  For me, it developed a type of clairvoyance, or visual access to symbols, images and colors.

usui“Reiki is a spiritual practice developed in 1922 by Mikao Usui. After three weeks of fasting and meditating on Mount Kurama, in Japan, Usui claimed to receive the ability of “healing without energy depletion”.

“It was the legendary healing power of Jesus Christ that triggered the discovery of reiki by Dr Usui. The story goes that one of his students asked him whether he could heal like Jesus. DR Usui found the answer after years of combing through religious texts the world over. His search fructified in some Sanskrit-Tibetan sutras and he developed his own healing power through austerities and meditation before starting to teach.”

There are five basic principles of Reiki.

These are:

Just for today do not anger
Just for today do not worry
Earn your living honestly
Honour your parents, elders and teachers
Give gratitude to every living thing and every situation
